The “Misadventures” of Teen Paris Hilton: Kissed by Teacher, Roofied by Man & (Sex) Taped by Scum
Nicky Hilton on Paris Hilton: "She was very naughty."
Cunningly, Paris chose a quote from Marilyn Monroe for Part 1’s epigraph of Paris: The Memoir:
“Never regret anything, because at one time it was exactly what you wanted.”
In The Memoir, Paris shared that it wasn’t until Nicky was in junior high did she become “a little tattle-nanny” and expose Paris’ “misadventures” such as teen Paris escaping out of her bedroom window and “scrambling down the trellis”.
In another “misadventure”, when Paris was in the sixth grade at The Buckley School, a prestigious private school in Los Angeles, the tenth-grade boys invited her to sneak off campus. “Sure!” Consequently, Paris rolled up her prep schoolgirl skirt “and styled it short.” Reminiscing on the day, she wrote, “I just liked the attention.” And it was at The Buckley School where, during a sixth grade game of Spin the Bottle, Paris had first kiss. In what turned out to be the beginning of a pattern, Paris was not invited back to The Buckley School for seventh grade.
Paris appears to have always had a thing for fashion, in addition to wearing her sixth grade prep school skirt short, by 8th grade, 14-year-old Paris “found ways to shorten” her Catholic schoolgirl plaid skirt as well. And at the time, she had her own phone line and answering machine on which she recorded her message with a “raspy [voice] and [an] allure like the phone sex lines”. (Paris did not share how she gained her knowledge of phone sex lines.)
And it’s not clear exactly when Paris started climbing out of her bedroom window, but she related that since she was “frequently grounded”, she “maneuvered down to the ground” in the 8th grade. For example, after Paris “hatched a plan” to “sneak out” to attend a school dance, she and Nicole Richie went to Judy's and purchased “twin outfits: velvet shorts with crop tops and fishnets.” Reminiscing on the day, she wrote that she was “exploring” “What is it like to feel sexy?”.
Interestingly, Paris wrote that she was an “ill informed” 8th grader. Why? Because the nuns “[...] didn’t cover Lolita in English class,” but that didn’t stop Paris from having a student-teacher affair with Mr. Abercrombie whom she described as “handsome” with “tousled hair” and “penetrating eyes”. Unsurprisingly, Paris wasn’t the only 8th grader who was enthralled by their teacher.
Meanwhile, all the girls in my class were crushing on this handsome young teacher. Always saying how ridiculously hot he was. Very Abercrombie. Tousled hair. Penetrating eyes. Everyone loved him, including the nuns.
Unlike Lolita, Paris claimed that she did not initiate the age-gap affair. She wrote that her teacher said while “flashing a flirty smile”, “I’ve got a crush on you.” And he “flattered and teased” her; thus, she felt noticed in an “important, grown-up way” (i.e., It wasn’t like the attention she received in the 6th grade from the 10th grade boys.) Their affair was their secret. A secret she wrote, that was a “[...] secret like candy under my pillow.”
To the dismay of feminists, Paris shared that she never felt like she was being “manipulated” (i.e., groomed). On the contrary, she implied that she was the manipulator. Paris wrote: “I felt like I was being worshiped.” But that it wasn't the teacher’s fault, because he couldn’t help himself due to her irresistible spell.
“It’s our secret,” he said, and I kept that secret like candy under my pillow. I never felt like I was being manipulated. I felt like I was being worshipped. I was Marilyn Monroe waiting to happen. He couldn’t help the way he felt because I had cast my spell on him.
(Note: Recall Part 1’s epigraph: Marilyn Monroe, “Never regret anything, because at one time it was exactly what you wanted.”)
Paris went on to write that the focus of the student-teacher affair was on her “intoxicating beauty”, and that she spoke to Mr. Abercrombie “almost every night” for “hours” when her teacher told her that she was “amazingly mature, beautiful, and intelligent” and “sensual, misunderstood, and special”. And he refreshed her memory about the age-age affairs between Princess Diana and Prince Charles and between Priscilla Presley and Elvis. (Paris did not share how she already knew about the royals and Priscilla and Elvis.)
The focus was on my intoxicating beauty instead of his inappropriate behavior. Mr. Abercrombie called me almost every night, and we talked for hours about how amazingly mature, beautiful, and intelligent I was, how sensual, misunderstood, and special. He reminded me that Princess Diana was thirteen years younger than Prince Charles. And Priscilla Presley was my age when Elvis fell in love with her.
(We related in previous posts that Diana was 16 when she first met 29-year-old Charles and that Priscilla was 14 when she met 24-year-old Elvis.)
One night, while home with the nanny, Paris scaled her bedroom window, “slid down the drainpipe”, and entered her teacher’s SUV where they kissed. (Assumingly, for the first time.) Of the kiss, Paris wrote:
The intensity of it stunned and delighted me. My brain lit up, flush with adrenaline, curiosity, and a host of feelings I couldn’t even name. This terrifying blissful kissing went on for what seemed like a long time and seemed to be evolving into something more. I don’t know where he would have taken it if my parents hadn’t pulled into the driveway. Headlights spilled across the windshield, and the spell was broken.
As we know, that wasn’t Paris’ first kiss, but she wrote that: “[...] it made all the kisses that came before it seem like the kisses I gave my ferrets.”
After her teacher “peeled out” with Paris in tow, they “sped like a maniac through the posh streets of Bel Air and Westwood, reeling around corners” until her teacher “circled back” and dropped her off, but Paris was disappointed that their “date” didn’t end with a kiss.
Eventually, he circled back and dropped me off in front of my house. He didn’t even kiss me good night like I imagined somebody would if you were on a date. It didn’t happen like a rom-com; he just dumped me out of the car and sped away.
After a screaming match with her parents, “no one ever mentioned the awkward incident again,” but Paris was, once again, kicked out of school, her parents moved back to New York City “into a sick apartment at the Waldorf”, and 14-year-old Paris was sent to live with her grandmother in Palm Springs - “for a about year” where Paris was enrolled as a 9th grader at Palm Valley School - a private college prep.
While living with her parents, Paris “slid down the drainpipe” and had to sneak out “to wear makeup, go on real dates, or hang”, but her Grandmother condoned such nubile nymphet behavior and schooled Paris on “matters that were all totally appropriate and necessary for a girl of fourteen” such as “boys, bras, mascara”. And at the behest of her grandmother, teen Paris even went bleach blond, and she was even allowed to invite boys over to her room to “watch TV”.
I’d never been allowed to wear makeup, go on real dates, or hang out at the mall before. Grandma wasn’t uptight about any of that. She schooled me on all the sensitive topics Mom declined to talk about: boys, bras, mascara, and other matters that were all totally appropriate and necessary for a girl of fourteen. She took me to the salon and let me get my honey-brown hair bleached blond and cut in layers like Farrah Fawcett. She schooled me on current makeup trends: matte foundation, exaggerated lip liner, plucked-to-perfection eyebrows, and subtle glitter finish.
By the 9th grade, Paris wrote that she felt like the “queen” of her “own destiny, looking and feeling confident”, and on the weekend she would spend time at the Century Mall in LA. where Paris and her friends “ran into these two older guys, in their late twenties.” Paris described the men as “cute and nice”. (Interestingly, Paris was 15 at the time, but she shared that “they were nice guys we’d known for a while.” A while?)
One weekend, “two hot [“older”] guys” invited Paris and Iffy to an apartment. (We’re assuming that they were the same “cute and nice” guys, but it’s not clear.” )
One weekend, I was at the mall with a not-super-close friend—let’s call her Iffy—and we ran into these two hot guys, and they invited us to hang out at one guy’s apartment that was not far. The invitation didn’t feel weird or out of bounds, because these guys weren’t strangers; they were nice guys we’d known for a while. They were older, but we weren’t little girls; we were in high school, after all.
Paris wrote that at the apartment, she and Iffy played music and danced until Paris was roofied via a “sip” of a “wild berry wine cooler” and raped.
(Note: It appears that, other than Carter, her current husband, Paris never told anyone about being roofied and raped, but one must assume that Paris included it in The Memoir, and she shared it during her book tour for altruistic reasons and not as a marketing tactic.)
In what appears to be days after the roofie/rape incident, 15-year-old Paris had some champagne and had sex with Randy, her “almost nineteen” year old boyfriend, which made her feel better about her “How I Lost My Virginity” story.
(Intriguingly, Paris wrote that “Randy was becoming less cool about not having sex.” And his friends threatened her with being cheated on by Randy if she didn’t “hook up”. “Yo, he’s gonna cheat on you if you don’t hook up with him.” However, Paris didn’t criticize Randy nor her friends for driving her to drink and have sex. Is it because, while Paris was a freshman in high school, Randy was merely the age of a college freshman; thus, no harm (i.e., grooming) done? And at what age-gap does compliments go from compliments to grooming?)
Back to Paris’s “misadventures”. Paris’ school had a 9th grade Friday night movie and sleepover in the school’s gym. The dress code was “pajamas with a favorite stuffed animal”. Paris wrote that: “Most of the girls arrived in sweats, flannel pajama pants, and baggy T-shirts, with Care Bears and plush dogs.” What did Paris wear? She shared: “I showed up in a little silk romper from Victoria’s Secret, looking like I was headed for a party at the Playboy Mansion [...] it was hot pink and pretty short.” Needless to say, the school’s administration made sure that Paris never saw the Friday night movie.
Ultimately, 15-year-old Paris moved to New York with her parents and siblings into their 2,500 square-foot condo in the Waldorf. Paris enrolled, along with Macaulay Culkin and Cristina Ricci, at the Professional Children's School where her “misadventures” continued when she would “[...] take off and walk around New York.” Paris’ source for nightlife entertainment was Time Out New York, which, despite being a nymphet, she used for “[...] scoping out the best parties and music and DJs”. Paris would sleep “most of the day” and “[a]fter everyone went to bed” she “headed out”. She wrote:
Party people didn’t show up at the clubs until midnight, and you couldn’t really know where the raves were happening until bar time, so midnight was the sweet spot.
Like Eva Evans and Julia Fox, Paris would “dance and go wild until the morning”, then she “slipped past the doorman”, “took a shower, and fell into bed as everyone else got up to get ready for school.” Sometimes she “[...] crashed at a friend’s house, slept all day, and went back out the next night.” Unsurprisingly, Paris was kicked out of Professional Children's School.
Subsequently, 15-year-old Paris enrolled at the Dwight School, a Manhattan prep school that I’m very familiar with, but she was kicked out.
Paris turned 16 in February of 1997 and with the help of the Wonderbra she became a woman.
I looked in the mirror, and there was a woman looking back at me. It was helpful that Wonderbra was having a moment.
However, it appears that Paris starting wearing pushup bras when she was 15, because for #FBF [Flash Back Friday] (APRIL 24, 2020), apparently filled with nostalgia, she posted a seductive photo on her Instagram (IG) account from when she was a 15-year-old nymphet. In the photo, Paris’s nubile derriere was barely covered by her skimpy skirt, her young but large breasts were prominent, and her look was flirtatious. Hilton shared in the caption that she used a push up bra to help prominently display her fountains:
"Back when I was 15 and discovered the wonders of a push up bra an [sic] eyeliner."
Hilton's IG post was viewed over 3,001,800 times, and it had over 3,000 comment such as from mr.gus.bridges, whom wrote: "You Derty lil girl"
Unsurprisingly, 16-year-old Paris continued to sneak out of the condo, but to the dismay of her parents, her “party nights went on for days”! Consequently, at the behest of her parents, she was kidnapped and forced to attend a boarding school for troubled teens (i.e., “disobedient ravers from conservative families”).
Paris promoted This Is Paris, her 2020 documentary, by teasing that she was abused at the boarding school for troubled teens. Some naturally assumed that Paris was referring to sexual abuse, but she was referring to physical abuse.
Per Hannah Yasharoff's USA Today post "'We're all survivors': Paris Hilton alleges widespread abuse at her former school in new documentary" (Sep. 7, 2020):
Hilton alleges her tumultuous young adult years were the result of experiencing verbal, emotional and physical abuse during the 11 months she attended Provo Canyon School, a Utah boarding school for troubled teens.
Interestingly, Hilton shared that she attended other boarding schools (for troubled teens) prior to attending Provo Canyon School; however, even more interestingly, Nicky Hilton, Paris' sister, shared why their parents sent Paris to boarding schools for troubled teens.
Nicky: "She was very naughty."
Paris: "What?"
Nicky: "She was [...] I told on her with everything [...]"
Paris: "Thanks bitch."
Nicky: "[...] Have you ever said sorry to mom and dad?"
Paris: "No."
After Paris turned 19 in February of 2000, she met Rick “Scum” Salomon, her 1 Night in Paris (2004) “older” yet “hot” sex tape co-star whom she compared flatteringly to Mr. Abercrombie. Paris said that her co-star “was every bit as charming as Mr. Abercrombie” and that her relationship with her co-star was just as “thrilling and naughty” as her student-teacher affair.
[H]e was every bit as charming as Mr. Abercrombie. It was all very thrilling and naughty—a whole new brand of adrenaline. I was obsessed.
Paris shared the true reason she made the sex tape, which is that she wanted to “be alive in a sensual way”, and because she wanted to feel comfortable in her own skin.
The truth is, I wanted to be alive in a sensual way. I wanted to feel like a woman who’s comfortable in her own skin.
However, she wrote that she still needed to drink herself “silly” and pop some Quaaludes before shooting the sex tape. Of the sex tape, which she later referred to as “creepy sex videos of teenage girls”, she wrote:
But I did it. I have to own that. I knew what he wanted, and I went with it.
I needed to prove something to him and to myself, so I got hammered, and I did it.
From our experience, age-gap memoirs are filled with contradictions and Paris’s memoir is no exception. For example, in This Is Paris, per Paris, 1 Night in Paris (2004) was filmed when she was 18. And Salomon was in his early thirties. Paris stated in the documentary:
"That was a private moment with a teenage girl."
"It was my first real relationship - 18. I was just so in love with him. I wanted to make him happy."
Let’s end with some questions: Was Paris really 18 when 1 Night in Paris was filmed? Maybe. Was Paris a teen teleiophile? It appears that way. Did Paris ever apologize to her parents? No. In the end, Nicky summed up Paris's teen years well, "She was very naughty."
